Rabbi Yehudah BenLewi is pleased to announce the publication of the Hokhmath Israel Weekday Prayer Siddur!
The Weekday Siddur is a monumental project in West African Jewish History.
Like the Shabbath Siddur, our new Weekday Siddur celebrates our rich history as Jews of the West African descent, and our geological footprint as Jews. Our Jewish heritage in the Americas and the African Diaspora is reflected within the pages of Hokhmath Israel siddurim. The legacies of Rabbi Ford, Rabbi W.A. Matthew, Rabbi Haiyim White, Rabbi Tate, Rabbi Levi benLevi, Rabbi Eliezer Brooks and others of blessed memory are also highlighted. Rabbi Yehudah BenLewi was careful to document many of the rich, halakhically consistent and exclusive traditions passed down by our great Rabbanan and elders in our siddurim.
What Makes Hokhmath Israel Siddurim Special?
The Hokmath Israel Weekday Siddur is formatted using our unique side by side, linear Hebrew and English transliteration, which allows for ease in following the service regardless to one’s Hebrew literacy level. The English translation is provided on the same page, making following and understanding the Hebrew service easy. You will also find the transliteration helpful for correctly pronounce the Hebrew prayers and blessings, even if you do not read Hebrew text. Enjoy sample excerpts below.
